Can I access account via different XDC wallet

Hello, last accessed my xinfin web wallet in 2021. My 12 word seed and password are written down and worked back then as XDCScan does show my transactions of that yr as well as my balance. Today however, I am unable to access this wallet via the updated web wallet using the same 12 word seed and plugging in my password as the "extra word " It is 100% not a password mistake as again, I am using the exact info I used back in 2021 (and have written down). So any suggestions? Could the problem be that my password has numbers (and so its not a ‘word’ and perhaps not taking) ? Do i need to access the wallet via a certain browser? Can i recover/access the wallet through a different xdc wallet (If like all other crypto, I assume the 12 word seed should be able to work in a diff wallet source…maybe xdcpay?). Currently, I am getting random 0x addresses but my address nor tokens are within the wallet. Thank you for any assistance!

Hello Spectrum

not sure why it’s happening but the wallet is working perfectly fine at my end. Having numbers in your password works absolutely fine. You can access your wallet on any browser.

Regarding the 0x addresses. It has always been like this. When you enter your Mnemonic phrases and password, the wallet list that pops up always comes with 0x prefix. It’s only when you select your wallet and go to the dashboard, you’ll see your address starting with XDC.

Here is the step by step guide created by one of our community member on how to connect and access your XDC wallet using Ledger. Please have a look.

Hi Sean, first…thanks for taking the time.
So I used to use the xinfinorg webwallet without any issues (I wrote/saved my 12 words and password on a thumb). If numbers do not matter then I know it is not an issue with the password as Ive only used xin’s web wallet. tn fact, XDC Scan verifies me getting into the wallet for various send and receive transactions back in 2021 So Im 100% my seed n password are accurate as they worked on the “old” wallet. In regard to your response, Im a bit confused as although I do have a ledger, I have never stored XDC on it. My public address is derived from the xinfin.org web wallet. So if numbers are okay and I need not worry about browsers, etc then what is the problem…? I can provide my public address and at this point, if you can help me figure this out, 50k XDC is yours (for real). Should I still try the ledger to retrieve my old web wallet address/balance? Or can I use my 12 word seed to import the account in a different wallet? Someone mentioned sending a couple of XDCs to your address to quasi reactivate the proper wallet…what do you think?
Given the amt of XDC I have, this is very important. I started supporting xdc a little after it launched. I am praying I get access to my balance again
Thanks a bunch

Sean, in reviewing the video, it appears you would only access the addresses assigned by ledger. In no part of the video are they inputting data as it relates to the addresses on web wallet. Unless I am missing something, Ledger uses webwallet as a launching pad, but doesnt “connect” to any addresses you may already have on web wallet

Hey,

I saw your comment under one of the threads discussing about Ledger users issue, so shared that info too. If this doesn’t relate to your situation, you can ignore that.

There’s no such thing as “activating” your wallet. Your account can stay dormant for 10 years, and you’ll still be able to log in using your backup/seed/mnemonic phrases and your password combination. There’s no expiration.

If you’re temporarily unable to access your wallet (though I don’t see why, as it’s working fine on my end and no one else has reported this issue), here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Clear your browser cache.
  2. If you’re having trouble accessing your wallet in multiple browsers, try using incognito mode.
  3. If you’re using a VPN, turn it off and try again.
  4. Try accessing your wallet through MyEtherWallet ( https://www.myetherwallet.com/wallet/access ). It has a similar UI to the XDC web wallet, with the only difference being that you’ll need to manually select the XDC network under the network section.

Just make sure to enter your password as an additional word where indicated. Once you are able to access your wallet, I’d suggest taking backup of your wallet’s private key by clicking on the portfolio value button and then view paper wallet. This private key (doesn’t require any password) will come in handy in the future in events like this.

Hope it helps. Let me know if you are still facing any issue or error with the screenshot of the error.

Hey Spectrum,

Sorry to hear about your loss but why would you connect your wallet with that phishing website? I was replying to you already.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done if they have already moved funds.

Hello Spectrum,

We’ll report this website and work to get it taken down, but scammers are always creating new phishing sites. Ultimately, it’s up to users to be cautious and avoid interacting with random individuals. There’s no way to immediately identify a scammer’s account. We can only take action once they’ve been reported.

Stay vigilant!
